It's a bit overwhelming at first because the festival and conference are so huge and there are so many people. It's very easy to lose focus, but if you can plan as far in advance as possible and stick to it you'll have a great time. Don't forget to factor in some time for margaritas ;) SXSW is the most amazing place to network, but you GOTTA have a plan. The main thing to remember is that this place is HIVING with people looking to connect and network. If you haven't got a target list and skeleton meeting plan coming together in the weeks before you get there you'll arrive and find you are too late. The other thing I realised a little too late... it's hot in Austin, bring some shorts so you don't overheat! I went to SXSWi a couple of years ago.
